育成する人材 Human Resource Development Goals
本専攻では, SDGs 達成に向けた地域と世界の喫緊の課題, と り わけ, 途上国の急激な都市化に伴う環境問題を中心と した開発課題 に対して, 環境学における持続可能な開発論を基盤に し, 理工学的アプローチで研究や実務を遂行でき る能力を有する と と も に, 大学・研 究機関, 政府・国際機関, 民間企業, NGO 等において, 他者と協働でき る高いコ ミ ュニケーシ ョ ン能力を有し, 国際的な労働市場で高い就 職力を発揮で き る人材を養成する。
In order to resolve the pressing regional and global issues related to the SDGs, especially the environmentally-driven development issues caused by the rapid urbanization of developing countries, the Joint International Master’s Programme in Sustainable Development (Hiroshima University and Leipzig University) is designed for fostering human resources with an ability to conduct research and engage in practice based on the fundamental principles of sustainable development in environmental studies and by means of science and engineering approaches, and those with excellent collaboration and communication skills and who exhibit competitive capability for employment in the international labor market of universities, research institutions, governments and international organizations, private sectors, and NGO, etc.

ディプロマ・ポリシー Diploma Policy
本専攻では, 以下の能力を身に付け, 所定の単位数を修得し, 修士論文及び最終試験に合格した学生に, 「修士 (学術) 」 の学位を授与 する。 1. 自立的に研究を行う ための, 科学的思考や手法を理解する能力, 及び根拠に基づいた意思決定能力 2. 書く 技能, 議論する能力, 争いを調和する能力, 協働する能力, 企画運営能力等, 広く 社会で活躍で き る能力 3. 欧州と アジアの見方の違いを理解する中で, 異文化コ ン ピテン シーを高めるための, 背景の異なる他者と協働で き る コ ミ ュニケーシ ョ ン能力 4. 複雑な課題に対し, 複数の学問分野から, 課題に適した知識と科学的手法を選択する と と も に, 分野横断型の研究手法を用いる力 5. 「持続可能な開発」 の概念を構成する自然的, 社会的, 経済的側面, 及び複雑な相互関係を理解する力 6. 世界の課題解決に貢献するための, 環境学における持続可能な開発論を基盤に した, SDGs 達成に向けた研究・実践能力
This program will award the degree Master of Science to the student who has acquired the capabilities described below, has earned the required credits defined for the education course, and has passed the master’s thesis examination and the final examination: 1. The ability to understand scientific way of thinking and methods required for the autonomous conduct of research activities and the capacity for decision making based on various types of evidence; 2. Skills required for active work in society, such as writing, discussion, conflict intervention, cooperation, planning, and management; 3. Communication skills required for cooperating with people of different backgrounds, with the aim of developing intercultural competency while fostering the understanding of differences in viewpoints between Europe and Asia; 4. The ability to select and use both appropriate knowledge and scientific approaches, as well as interdisciplinary research methods, to address complex issues; 5. The ability to understand the natural, social, and economic aspects of the concept of sustainable development and their complex interrelations; 6. Research and practical skills required for contributing to solving global problems and achieving SDGs, based on the fundamental principles of sustainable development in environmental studies.
